About Us

Beija Flor is inspired by the visionaries of the U.S. Black birding community who have made the clarion call for us to come together to enjoy birding as a worthwhile pastime!

Rashida, the Company founder seeks to combine her love for travel with her fledgling interest in birding to offer once-in-a-lifetime birding adventures.

Rashida caught the travel bug as a teenager where she volunteered at a national park in Costa Rica as part of a summer program with Operation Crossroads Caribbean. Over the years, she has traveled extensively throughout the world for both business and pleasure with some of her most memorable travel experiences being: forging a lasting connection with her host family in Brazil while studying abroad as an undergraduate student at Spelman College, exploring business opportunities with the National Black MBA Association in Ghana, and taking part in numerous safaris throughout countries in East and South Africa.

To further hone her birding skills, Rashida regularly participates in local birding walks, birding festivals, and annual events such as the Christmas Bird Count. In addition, Rashida actively scouts new locations in person to develop Beija Flor itineraries.
